The bulletin of the Raffles Museum
This is a brief editorial note by C. Boden Kloss announcing the establishment of the Bulletin of the Raffles Museum, Straits Settlements as a third local museum journal in Malaysia, alongside those of the Federated Malay States Museums and the Sarawak Museum.
Summary
Kloss notes that Malaysian zoology will occupy less space in the Journal of the Malayan Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society going forward, as the three museum departments now have their own publications covering anthropology, ethnology, zoology, botany, geology, and related subjects. The Raffles Museum had previously relied on the Society’s journal for publication, a gap now filled by its new Bulletin. The first number contains a report on the Blattidae of the Mentawi Islands (“Spolia Mentawiensia”) by Dr. R. Hanitsch, formerly Director of the Raffles Museum and Library (p. 84).
