Genealogy of the royal family of Brunei

This is a short genealogical note by W. H. Treacher, Governor of British North Borneo, presenting a translation of a native manuscript on the royal family of Brunei, published as a supplement to Sir Hugh Low’s earlier paper in the same journal (p. 79).

Summary

The text traces the succession and intermarriages within the Brunei royal house from the death of Sultan Muhammad Ala-eddin through to the reign of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin, who was on the throne at the time of writing (p. 80). It documents the marriages and offspring of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin, Sultan Muhammad Khan z’ul Alam, and their descendants, including the lineage by which Rajah Nuralam became the mother of the then-reigning Sultan, and the marriage of Pangeran Istri to Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin (p. 80). A brief footnote records the children of Pangeran Muda Hassim, who married the niece of the late Sultan Mumin (p. 80).
