Corrigenda: maps omitted from ‘Road or rail?’

This corrigendum by Amarjit Kaur, published in JMBRAS Vol. 54, Part 1 (1981), supplies two maps and one diagram that were inadvertently omitted from her article “Road or Rail? Competition in Colonial Malaya 1909–1940” in the preceding volume (p. 111).

Summary

The Editor notes that the omission was an oversight and provides the three missing visual elements: Map 1, a diagrammatic representation of the development of the Federated Malay States Railways 1885–1935 (sourced from Fifty Years of Railways in Malaya, 2), which should have appeared opposite page 47; Map 2, a diagrammatic representation of the growth of the road network 1897–1939, which should have appeared opposite page 53; and a diagram of railway receipts and exports of tin and rubber 1895–1935, which should have appeared opposite page 55 (p. 111). The maps are reproduced on the following pages of this issue.
